It really works by beyblade rules of "don't spin that thing". Literally the government guys are saying that the kid is armed because he has a magic monster in his little capsule thing
Kid's franchises where the weapons are little toys are always kind of funny to revisit, they are fighting for their lives with these toys. I like to think that they're all in the same universe somehow but just miss each other for cross over events.

Dub, Sub, Wooleyisms Dub and Sub V2 Was potentially thinking of doing a Digimon rewatch or starting one of the shows I've been into in the fringes fandom wise but never actually watched (Yugioh) but also ended up back in my sub vs dub debate By dub in particular I refer to American English dub, mostly the practices of early anime dubs like Saban and 4kids who were and still are the notable duo of dubbing discourse because sometimes other areas did get their own dubs instead of imports of the American ones, like the extremely rare BBC dubs of stuff like urusei yatsura becoming Lum the space invader "Why was localization of so and so thing like that" Money reasons (signs intentionally left blank so the episode footage could be reused for other dubs versus having to retranslate it for all shows) Nuance of Japanese culture to American/Western culture being incompatible so they have to use a substitute (things about respecting culture are basically nonexistent in some areas, philosophical things) Xenophobia and "that foreign thing is weird" (See, 4kids practices to ameracanize things so much the kids wouldn't even know it was Japanese admitted in interviews, general dubs making fun of Japanese food) Bored writers who didn't have the full script and started making stuff up (see, samurai pizza cats, ghost stories) Translating as episodes aired and being unable to walk back things they made up Godammit it was a pun with a double meaning that's untranslatable (Aiiiiiii in Live A Live's switch translation meaning Love but they left it as is) Writers assuming children are stupid and wouldn't have the ability to be open minded or pay attention (practice that continues to this day especially with stuff like the glitter force dub having them say things during their transformation sequence) Parents who actually care about what their children watch and might take offense to something (Japan's very different viewpoint of cultural purity) Formality to indicate maturity plus the fact that English just doesn't have the amount of words to convey the personalities (personal pronoun preferences of I, such as Boku being reserved for young boys but sometimes girls use it too to represent tomboyishness, Watashi being for polite women and sometimes old people, Watakushi for extreme formality to the point of stiffness) Basically, it's a lot more complicated then just directly translating something word for word and calling it a day. TRANSLATOR GRIFTERS DO NOT INTERACT STOP MAKING MY ABILITY TO TALK ABOUT NICHE TOPICS HARDER Do you know how many of my niche hobbies have been ruined by angry grifters that make it nearly impossible to bring up so and so thing without unintentionally sounding like an ass? Pisses me off. A lot of times some anime dubs from the past took a lot of liberties to the point it might have the same visuals but might as well be considered a seperate product, but redubs are nonexistent so if you want the original story as intended by the original writers you have to hunt down subs because a dub can be a product of different values. This also extended to video game translations especially with stuff like the "hardcore covers" to hide up games that were of a cuter nature because things primarily marketed to boys can't be cute. (The extreme amount of cultural pressure put upon the boys vs girls binary is also responsible for executives killing shows and toy lines because "what if girls liked them too!" So misogyny can also be thrown in on top of the other issues) A lot of times nowadays we don't get stuff like final fantasy's early translations (wooleyisms) and Nintendo treehouse localizations tended to make things "quirkier" which works for some games they do (animal crossing, splatoon) but also led to some debates (the fire emblem fates translation debates I saw on tumblr back when fates just came out and people would do their own direct translations) The issue with some direct by hand or machine translation is that a lot of times, it sounds and reads dry as fudge. And the dialect can also be entirely lost again. Take for example, Urianger from FF14, who in English his language choice is that he's the only guy who speaks in extreme medieval Shakespearean dialect and in Japanese he just speaks normally but still poetically and just as archaic.

A lot of these are just transferred as is from my other site. Rabbids Cont. Rabbids are okay in this in small dosages. And the human characters don’t infuriate me like other video game mascot driven shows. The episode where they all start speaking English was funny.
Watching documentaries on animals and being into bird cams reminds me that i need to go back to my Pokemon tracking concept. It’s pretty funny because even if a pokemon was tagged like animals are like what are people supposed to do if the pokemon just blows up the tag or some trainer catches it. I guess this idea spawned from pokemon go since the trainers do catch a lot of one pokemon to send them to professor willow’s lab to be researched.
Wakfu (To Continue):W akfu was on here at one point and I got to the part where it turns out the main character is a dragon and the dragon mentor fought a time lord and it was an entire anime battle animated in flash and it made me go “wow.”
Rabbids (Why am I watching this): Rabbids Invasion is apparently something I’m putting time into watching even though its brainless. I’m kind of endeared to only some Rabbids who manage to experience remorse instead of being crapheads.
Miscellaneous: Infinite Craft just reminds me of little alchemy. RPGmaker XP was free so I got it, too bad I have no knowledge on how to code anything and it all evaporated after school.
TPP 10th anniversary: How in the world has it been 10 years. They did gens past crystal? There was way more extensive lore to it? What the heck. I’m old.I’m in there too. We’re just ants on a keyboard attempting to beat Pokémon

Rabbids Show (Continued)

I needed a completely brainless show to not think and the Rabbids worked on my brain in a way I can only describe as whatever kids go through when they watch cocomelon marathons. Sorry. That’s my only point of reference. I look up from using it as background noise and they’re fighting aliens, turned into zombies, or causing acts of domestic crime. Somehow I like these human characters when normally they’d be the bane of a mascot driven show. I think it’s because they don’t show up that often.

Completed season 1 of bakugan done

Basically as a standalone it’s okay, it’s not really anything special outside of the select episodes where the characters are tested and the whole Alice subplot It’s quintiessential Saturday morning cartoon you put on while you do something else because they kinda just do whatever during battles Wakfu Season 1

Wakfu is a show made in flash that’s uses MMO terms because it used to be one and just expects you to know things and I was just thrown into it It’s made on flash and is really well made like I wasn’t expecting some of the fight scenes and it gets better as it goes season 1 finale locked in FR English dub is so so but I like it; reminds me of the NG sounding voices anyways Tristepinne was a real one It’s very clearly anime inspired and wears it’s influence on its sleeve The main villain commits centuries of atrocities to go back in time only for it to fail and only give him the episodes run time which is insane

Fanmade (pokemon Starter Squad) Starter Squad is a relic of the past but I had no clue what I was expecting during any part so the later half took me out Made clearly during brawl time with the models, episodes get longer and length and more complex in plot

On going

Bakugan Season 2 I started season 2 but didn’t really care much at the start outside of the one guy who is in this one pokemon fangame i meant to get to but didn’t yet Season 2 really does not want to give the main cast their dues, did the writers fire the only woman they had or something because like why is Alice not here smoking the aliens she can teleport

Bakugan is one of those shows I am clearly not paying attention to fully. It’s a filler show I watch between death note despite the fact if I’d pay attention fully I’d finish death note already but that one’s more of a slow burn I like bakugan for nostalgia’s sake, which is why I’m only watching season 1 because the other seasons lack the characters I liked in season 1 the Bulk of this week was me watching the mega man NT warrior marathon, the dubbed one, with the twitch chat.

Capcom releasing an official dub version of the battle network show on their YouTube and then apparently putting in the Japanese subs because they lost one of the episodes (the first one!) is incredible
